It is clear in my head what I wanted to do after finishing my undergrad in media. I knew I wanted to work on either advertising, marketing, PR or in social media networking side of the business. Thus when I decided to do an internship subject for my degree. I knew I had to do my placement in an environment where I can be trained on the fields I mentioned above. In doing the placement I hoped to learn practical lessons to use after graduating, as I am aware that working on theory in school is different on using it for practical use.
Luckily Social Media AOK, gave me the opportunity to do my placement with them. Social Media AOK is a growing social media management agency in Adelaide. They manage social networking sites for businesses to allow themselves to be more marketable. They also do training courses to help businesses manage their own accounts and teach them how social media can be helpful in the productivity of their business.
I’m on my 4th day of placement now, and as hoped I am learning valuable experience from this experience.
I’m learning the importance of networking, connecting to people that actually branches out to more people and target audience.
Filtering of posts and timing, how diverse posts around all the platforms used, noting to post relevant materials but materials that do not cloud a page with repetitive activity *posting funny quotes is necessary.
I’m learning practical stuff such as how to really mobilize and utilize social media platforms for marketing purposes i.e. creating pay per click ads on Facebook etc, getting statistical information of pages and other social media functionality that I didn’t know existed but is useful to its marketing purposes.
In conclusion, I’ve learned a lot in doing my placement. Although I know there’s more to learn about the in’s and out of working for marketing specialists in the social media industry.
I know I have learned enough for me to be able to make a social media page more viable and more proficient for marketing purposes. I’ve gained practical knowledge that I can use to get started after finishing my degree.
Thanks Social Media AOK you guys rock
