Social Media AOK
What a great day for networking! It’s the end of my first day at Social Media AOK and I thought I’d had enough friends. Today proved me wrong and showed me the value of networking and meeting new people. I am far from shy so this opportunity to engage with corporate individuals, people of all ages, genders and professions was a great chance to learn.
As a self confessed listaholic, I can honestly say I cannot plan or organise my life enough. Juggling commitments and time management was another vital skill that I learnt never goes astray when organising meetings, preparing a business plan or event sharing ideas with others. How Simone has time to breathe I will never know!
That’s just day one!
I’m still alive! If anything, I know more about social media than I ever thought I would learn in 3 days. I have total information overload, if that is even a medical condition. The amount of information, pictures, social networking sites that are up and running are incredible…and I didn’t even know half of them existed! So I am definitely learning more than others in a lifetime about social media and how it can be used and manipulated.
Before you even think about asking if I’ve done any “real work”, yes I have. I am writing media releases, writing profiles, exactly the sort of thing I had in mind going into this placement, with many added bonuses.
Fingers crossed I survive my 40 second mini speech about myself tomorrow at the BNI Breakfast!
It’s the end of week one of my placement and boy has it flown! I have just come back from the BNI Australia breakfast and it is raining business cards! I think I made a good impression…everyone shook my hand so I must be ok! I think I need to look at making my own business cards “Nadia Boscaini…actively seeking employment in a communication field”. I have survived a week of networking, writing, profiling, taking photos and learning how to listen.
One week down, one to go. I’m pretty sure I could do this forever. I think I’ve found my calling.
It’s the second day back of the last week of placement of at Social Media AOK and I love what I’m doing and what I’ve done. I have had a great chance to build my portfolio and meet a whole new group of people. I am making such progress with all the work I have been doing and can’t wait to one day work like this and make money doing it! I just want to start my career already! This placement has really inspired me to be more proactive in seeking to work my way into the professional arena. I can’t wait to be paid to do something I love!..That does include networking coffees and meetings.
My time at Social Media AOK is wrapping up and I can honestly say I don’t want to go. I think I might have to create more work for myself so that I am still useful. Today I had the chance to sit in on media business meetings. It is interesting to see how a business meeting is conducted and how to present knowledge to a group of people. I can’t wait for the chance to show people my knowledge one day!
Today was my last day at Social Media AOK. What a way to end my placement! I was able to have breakfast with the BNI group and I got a referral! I feel like I am finally finding my way into the business world. The BNI group is such a wonderful group of people and I am so lucky to have worked with Simone and Justin Douglas. I have been given many exciting opportunities over the past week and have met amazing people. I believe this placement has helped me reflect on my skills personally and professionally and has taught me the value of my skills. The team at Social Media AOK has been so wonderful and I am so thankful to the team for putting up with me for the past 2 weeks! I hope to work with you again soon!
